How can the Refrigerator model and Serial number be identified?

Identifying your Refrigerator model and serial number is straightforward. This is located on the sticker (rating plate) on the inside right-hand side wall of the refrigerator near the door seal. (refer picture below).

Why is a Rebate being paid for the Affected Refrigerator Models?

Hitachi has entered into an undertaking with the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources (‘Department’) to compensate customers in relation to Hitachi Refrigerator Model Series R-V475PT5 and R-VG475PT5, where the projected annual energy consumption of the refrigerators were found to exceed the declared value annual energy consumption of 326kWh/annum.

Who has determined the Rebate amount?

The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources has assessed and determined that Hitachi will compensate all customers of the affected models with a one-off compensation rebate of $174. The rebate amount is based on the Department’s estimate of the potential difference in operating costs over the course of the affected model’s life.

What is the effect on my refrigerator, is it safe for me to continue using my refrigerator?

Yes, it is perfectly safe to continue using your refrigerator in the normal manner, there is no fault.

Does the refrigerator need to be repaired?

No, there is no repair or modification necessary. The refrigerator is fully functional and is perfectly safe to be used in the normal manner.

What if I want a replacement product or a full refund?

The refrigerators are fully functional and perfectly safe to be used in the normal manner, therefore a replacement or refund is not appropriate.

What if I no longer have the purchase receipt for my refrigerator to claim my rebate?

If you are unable to provide the receipt of purchase for your refrigerator, please provide a photo of the sticker (rating plate) clearly showing the model and serial number. When will I receive the rebate payment?

Hitachi will process the payment of the claim within six weeks on the receipt of a fully completed Rebate Claim Form, and transfer the funds to the nominated bank account provided.
